Tenuta Santa Maria del Garino is a winemaking and hazelnut farming estate in the Western Langhe region. It is a place for cultivating diverse grape varieties and simultaneously serves as a space for artistic experimentation and creative research.
Since 2022, the estate has been owned by the Mondino family, who have continued the previous owners' work of reuniting land parcels. They have revitalized a small village surrounded by over 80 hectares of predominantly east- and southeast-facing land.
Despite cultivating a variety of grape types enriched by hazelnut groves and woodlands, Tenuta del Garino has chosen to specialize exclusively in the production of Alta Langa DOCG wines. Their production is limited in quantity but sophisticated in quality.
The Alta Langa DOCG from Tenuta del Garino was first produced in the 2019 vintage. It originates exclusively from vineyards at an average altitude of 400 meters above sea level, on marl and limestone soils of ancient marine origin.
Starting in 2023, we launched an artistic project for the creation of "Artist's Labels." The first three vintages of Alta Langa DOCG will feature limited-edition designs signed by Marco Schiavone, a Turin-based artist whose work explores natural landscapes, their anthropic changes, and the representation or reconstruction of these environments through photography, installations, drawings, and sculpture.
